Principal's Message

Message from Administration

Welcome to May!

Only two months left in the school year, which means we are busy preparing for year-end learning while planning for the next school year at the same time.

With every school year, there are inevitable changes that happen with staffing.  As part of our planning process with Rocky View Schools, we will solidify our staffing towards the end of June and make families aware of any changes at an appropriate time. In the meantime, we continue to help our students to learn and finish the year strong.

Year end assessments, field trips and activities are coming up, along with our Kindergarten Orientation and  Grade 8 Farewell. All of these things require a lot of preparation and planning; we are grateful for the amazing effort of our entire staff in their service to our school community.

As we prepare for the 2024-25 school year, we know that many of our students and families have questions about what next year may look like.  One of those questions inevitably is about teachers and classes.  Our current teaching staff will be engaging in the creation of class lists for next year, with input from our learning support team and school administration.  We strive to make each class as equitable as possible in terms of size and composition.  As things change often throughout this process, we will not be sharing class placements until closer to the start of the 2024-2025 school year.

Did you know...
...that May is National Get Caught Reading month?  It is a great time to celebrate the magic and power of reading for all and to promote literacy in the home. By encouraging people to "get caught reading," we promote literacy, imagination, and the countless benefits of reading. This celebration also serves as a reminder that amidst the hustle and bustle of daily life, there's immense value in taking a moment to lose oneself in a good book! We encourage you to “catch” your child in the act of reading and share the photo with their teacher. Photos will be showcased in a display and all those “caught” will be entered into a draw win a prize from Scholastic.

Finally, we want to wish all of our mothers in our school community a Happy Mother's Day on May 12!  We hope that you enjoy many special moments!

Kindly,

Your Windsong Administration Team
