December Updates

Thanks for attending - the November Scholastic Fair

It was once again a huge success!  We gained valuable rewards for our school that has already helped us to replace items in our collection as well as purchase some new books.

These new books will be available early in the new year.

Online Orders

These have arrive and will be distributed during the next two weeks before break.  Please send your order number to your teacher.

If your student paid for an item during the fair.  Some items have arrived, others we are still waiting to hear about.  Distribution of these items is happening during your students Learning Commons block when their class comes.  If an item can not be found due to supply shortages here are the steps:

  1. A replacement of equal value will be offered for some of the items not currently found.
  2. We will issue a credit for the next fair.
  3. If their item comes with the March Fair we will hand it out then.

Sept/Oct 2022 LC News

Discovered a library book over the summer?

That is okay! Please return it to the Learning Commons during your first week of school. Thank you!

New for the 2022-2023 school year

Our learning commons layout for the 2022-2023 school year features an area for both younger students and older students. Special themes will be featured in both areas on a bi-weekly or monthly basis. Students will also get to experience various hands-on activities including but not limited to bookmark making, crafts, gardening, and special visits.

Class visits

K to Grade 3: This year in the learning commons students in Grades Kindergarten to Grade 3 will continue to enjoy carpet time with our Learning Commons facilitator. Every three to four weeks students will participate in an activity happening in the learning commons. Students will continue to sign out 1 book each week to take home and enjoy:

  • Kindergarten has their books for 1 week;

  • Grade 1-3 have their books for up to 3 weeks.

Grade 4 to 8: This year students in these grades will learn how to use the self-checkout kiosk to be able to sign out their own books. While visiting the library classes will be encouraged to explore the monthly activities and themes occurring in the learning commons area.
