AMA School Safety Patrollers

I’d like to join the AMA School Safety Patrol program at my school. How do I get started?

* Please see Ms. Terakita and/or Ms. Van Nest if you are interested in joining the team for the remainder of the year.

* If interested, new patrollers and their parents/guardians must, fill out a permission and availability form prior to training. Please submit to Mrs. Alawiye or Ms. Van Nest as soon as possible.

* All patrollers must be trained prior to starting their first shift.

* Training will be held in the morning on Feb 6th and 7th, 2019.

What if it is really cold? Safety patrollers will not go outside for their shift if the weather colder than -20. We recommend that patrollers are ALWAYS dressing as warm as possible for their shifts. It can get cold standing still outside for 10-15 minutes. Patrollers should make sure they are wearing hats, gloves, coats, proper footwear and snow pants if needed.

The AMA School Safety Patrol program is a great opportunity to get students in the community and volunteering. As a thank you, AMA sends discounts towards special event tickets in the Calgary area, e.g. Calgary Hitmen Games. Many of our patrollers look forward to the Heritage Park Field Trip on June 6th, 2019, where all patrollers get to spend the school day at the park. Windsong School also likes to show the patrollers our appreciation by monthly pizza parties.

A special thanks to our FANTASTIC Safety Patrollers for all of the amazing work they have done for us these last few months. This job is a big responsibility and our patrollers have made such a difference.

We are truly proud of our incredible team.
